It takes at least 250 volunteers to make the Spirit of the Sea Festival a safe and fun weekend for almost 100,000 participants.

The following roles need to be filled:

  • volunteer coordinator,
  • money hunter,
  • activity & games planners,
  • festival infrastructure & transportation,
  • event publicity.

If you could assist in these areas, or would like to contribute in any other way, we will be very happy to hear from you.

For 58 years, the Torchlight Parade has been the grand finale of the Festival. Attracting thousands of people from all walks of life, the Parade is a magical summertime tradition.

On Sunday August 5th 2007, as the curtain of dusk was drawn, this vibrant procession illuminated the waterfront Marine Drive, aglow with inventive and awe-inspiring parade entries. From 50 foot floats, to marching bands to clowns, vintage cars, and dog entries, this shimmering spectacle is one to remember.

PARTICIPANTS

If you have been a participant before, we don’t need to tell you what a great event it is. We are always delighted to see new additions to the parade. The Spirit of the Sea Torchlight Parade Committee will be gearing up in the beginning of the new year for our 2008 Festival and we invite you to join us.

Our parade is ever-evolving and has growing reputation for its electric community energy. It attracts many floats and other entries from throughout the province and the United States as well as our local community. We are very happy to invite you to join our parade and to offer an opportunity for you to showcase your particular community, event or organization. There are a variety of parade categories and judging of the parade entries is an exciting time for all.

For Bands out of the area requiring billets, please advise as soon as possible in order that we may attempt to find appropriate accommodation. We want to make every effort to enable you to join us. Please contact us and tell us what you need.
