Rhythm Wellness drumming circle
Festival visitors of all ages participated in a drumming circle workshop hosted by Rhythm Wellness during this year's Spirit of the Sea Festival. A colourful flag display from Astoria WA is fluttering in the background.

The 2008 SPIRIT OF THE SEA FESTIVAL was held on AUGUST 1, 2 & 3.

120,000 spectators and participants visited the Festival this year. It was the 59th annual summer festival on White Rock beach.

There was great excitment for the return of a major sandcastle competition after a 21 year hiatus.

EPCOR community mural painting
Elizabeth Hollick and Shandis Harrison prepare for a new mural to be painted on the Balsam St change rooms. Several dozen festival visitors helped by each painting a fish.

The Spirit of the Sea Festival is an annual weekend-long celebration in the proud community of White Rock, British Columbia. A variety of events span more than 2 kilometers along the waterfront overlooking the silver beaches of Semiahmoo Bay.

The “Spirit of the Sea” is a family oriented celebration of the water, land and life of the Semiahmoo Peninsula. Driven by the dedication and spirit of community partners, donors and volunteers, the Festival has evolved into a world-class event.

Join us for a wonderful, summertime tradition.

SANDCASTLES RETURNTH

The legendary, long-missed Sandcastle Competition returned to White Rock beach.

Help the Production Team decide whether the festival dates should be changed next year to coincide with the best tides, or if the Sandcastle Competition should be a morning event or a separate event in July or September.

Add your thoughts on this in a feedback survey from the left column of this page.
